If they only send a few nice photos and no numbers, I stay careful.

I listen for repeated story changes

This is one of the clearest signs.

At the start, the supplier may say the mold will be ready in 20 days.
After one week, they say the steel shipment is late.
After two weeks, they say the design needs a change.
After another week, they say the machine is busy.

One delay can happen. A pattern of changing stories is different.

When I hear the same promise break again and again, I stop depending on the word and start depending on the record.

I check response speed and detail level

A good mold supplier does not need to reply like a robot, but the reply should still answer the question.

If I ask about mold maintenance, I want to know:

cleaning method

wear parts

spare insert plan

tool life advice

If the reply is short and empty, I ask again in a more direct way.

A supplier who is honest may not always have a perfect answer on the spot. That is fine. A supplier who lies often tries to sound complete without giving anything useful.
